Emotions and dis-ease 4 September, 2008

Following are my very own musings and merely represent my views . Please do consult your own health practioner on matters relating to your health.

“Health and Wellness are in our hands and minds literally .”

There is a view that the emotion represented by kidney stones is fear while gall stones represent crystallised frustation. Apparently – more men tend to suffer from kidney stones while more women succumb to gall stones. Examining this health indication from the perspective of suppressed emotion gives some interesting food for thought.

As a generalization men are more likely to suppress the emotion of fear with women more likely to be able to express the emotion of fear. Women may however hide the emotion of frustration behind cheerfulness or the roles women often assume, mother, wife, lover etc. where expressing frustration may not be an option. So could the unexpressed fear over a period of time manifest as kidney stones and the unexpressed feeling of frustration be crystallised into gall bladder sand/stones?

Another observation by a famous naturopath on the presence of the “hump” over the C7 vertebrae in the back of the neck in women. His observation is that it represents FFF ie “forty, frustrated and fat” . Although I was up in arms over that I had to pause and think over this for awhile. It did manifest in mature women but not in younger women. Men almost never displayed this symptom. Well there could be many explanations but I owed it to myself to delve deeper into the notion and prove or disproof the notion.

Perhaps this is wild conjecture .

In the short list below I have just connected organs and emotions that the English language have used for ages

Gut – emotions (“butterflies in my stomach”)

Spleen – Anger ( “venting my spleen”)

Liver – Anger ( Livid )

So perhaps there is ancient wisdom in the notion of emotions precede dis-ase

Your views and own observations of the connection between emotion and disease are welcome.
